His low tone and trembling voice gave me enough clue as to what could have happened... My direct question was "kitne shaheed hue".. He told the whole story as to what had happened.. 2 died and 3 injured from his battalion.. and I could figure out flights for Lucknow but none for Agra( to be specific mahamayanagar)...
What is wrenching my heart is the trauma that the family members, of Lance Naik Yogesh and Lance Naik Atul, must be going through.. Though their son is no more but they are waiting for his corpse to come.
On further interaction I found out that both were married and one of them had two daughters..
I tried to cheer him up by telling him to refer my name to his colleagues for the post of official travel guide for his regiment...
He broke into a laughter but soon silence crept in because working in the capacity of Adjutant, he has developed personal rapport with all the soldiers in the battalion. We ended the call on the note that may the souls of the deceased rest in peace....
But I am quite disturbed to think all this... right since the morning I read about the Dantewadi incident.. 35 deceased .. 8 terrorists reaching Mumbai to plan something bigger than 26/11... then this news...
Why can't these terrorists and insurgents find better jobs rather than spreading gross violence and bloodshed... How much tormenting it must be for the fellow soldiers to see their fellow wraped in Tiranga...
I was occupied with the nonsense happening in Infosys since past 2 past yrs.. Today I feel how small we all are infront of the supreme sacrifice that our soldiers are making... Let's deflate the salaries of the civilians and let our armed forces have well equipped and modern weapons.
But alas I am just a Software Engineer not the FM...
but these terrorists need to be taught a lesson and soon they will be getting an acerbic reply...
